BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — April 7, 2026 (The Oklahoma Post)
On the holiest morning of the Christian calendar, while most Oklahomans were in church, President Donald Trump was on Truth Social threatening to bomb Iranian power plants and bridges using profanity. At 8:03 AM Easter Sunday, Trump posted a profanity-laden threat to Iran, declaring “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP” then skipped church.
Four days earlier, at a White House Easter lunch attended by more than 100 faith leaders, Trump’s personal spiritual advisor Paula White-Cain compared him directly to Jesus Christ, telling him: “You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused. It’s a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior showed us.” She continued: “Because of His resurrection, you rose up. Because He was victorious, you were victorious.” Trump leaned into it, quipping: “They call me king now, can you believe it?” The White House quietly deleted the video. Clips had already gone viral.
Roman Catholic theologian Rich Raho called White-Cain’s remarks “blasphemous.” Jesuit priest Fr. James Martin said: “Comparing a political leader to the sinless Son of God during Holy Week? No.” Conservative broadcaster Erick Erickson wrote: “That Paula White clip has burned through the Christian community in a not-good way.”
White-Cain’s Trump-as-messiah rhetoric has escalated for nearly a decade. In 2019 she declared: “To say no to President Trump would be saying no to God.” At his 2019 reelection rally she prayed against “demonic networks” opposing him. On January 6, 2021, she delivered the opening prayer at the rally that preceded the Capitol breach.
While the Christian world reacted with horror, Pope Leo XIV delivered a starkly different Easter message from St. Peter’s Basilica: “Let those who have weapons lay them down. Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace.” The Vatican formally determined the Iran war does not satisfy Catholic just war doctrine. Over 100 international law experts warned that deliberately targeting civilian power plants and bridges violates the Geneva Convention.
Oklahoma’s Christian politicians said nothing.
WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN
Somewhere in Honduras, a 4-year-old American citizen with stage-four kidney cancer is not receiving the treatment she needs. She was deported. Her mother was given no meaningful opportunity to consult a lawyer. The attorney who was representing the family was in the same building when it happened. ICE did not let her speak to them.
That child is one of at least seven documented American citizens children born on American soil, holding American birth certificates who have been removed from the United States under the immigration enforcement operation now run by Oklahoma’s own Markwayne Mullin, Secretary of Homeland Security. A ProPublica investigation published March 28, 2026 found that in the first seven months of Trump’s second term, the parents of at least 11,000 U.S. citizen children were arrested and detained by ICE an average of more than 50 American kids a day with a parent pulled into custody. Trump is deporting mothers of U.S. citizen children at four times the rate of his predecessor. Under Trump, nearly 60 percent of those arrests end in deportation. Three quarters of the deported mothers had no criminal convictions in the United States other than traffic or immigration offenses.
A 5-year-old American girl named Genesis was deported to Honduras on January 11, 2026. A 2-year-old American citizen identified in court documents only as V.M.L. was removed to Honduras so quickly that a federal judge wrote there was “strong suspicion” the child had been deported without any meaningful due process. Her lawyer was in the building. ICE did not stop. One American teenager came home to find his entire family gone deported while he was out of town. “He just lost his whole family,” his attorney said. “He’s been separated from everybody.”
The Trump administration’s response, delivered by border czar Tom Homan: “Having a U.S. citizen child does not make you immune from our laws.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the children were not deported their mothers were deported and the children went with them. “Those children are U.S. citizens,” Rubio said. “They can come back into the United States if their father or someone here wants to assume them.”
The word he used was “assume.” As though a child is a piece of property to be assumed by whoever is left standing.
On March 5, 2026, when Mullin was nominated to run this operation, Oklahoma’s Christian political class celebrated. Sen. James Lankford posted: “We’re excited to have Oklahoma values leading the Department of Homeland Security. Cindy and I are praying for you.” Gov. Kevin Stitt posted: “Markwayne Mullin has been a fighter for Oklahoma and will fight to keep our nation secure. Oklahoma has been an example to the nation for smart immigration enforcement.” Attorney General Gentner Drummond called Mullin “exactly the sort of straight-talking, stalwart, and commonsense patriot needed to lead the Department of Homeland Security.”
Oklahoma values. Smart immigration enforcement. Straight-talking patriotism.
A 4-year-old with stage-four cancer is in Honduras. She cannot get treatment there. She was born in the United States.
Lankford, Stitt and Drummond have issued no statement about her. No statement about any of the deported American children. No statement about the 11,000 U.S. citizen kids whose parents have been swept up in the machine they praised and helped build. They have also said nothing about their president’s Easter Sunday profanity-laden threat to bomb Iranian civilians signed off, on the holiest morning of the Christian calendar, with “Praise be to Allah.”
The men who claim every square inch of Oklahoma for Jesus have been asked to account for none of it.
SEN. JAMES LANKFORD: JESUS PRINCIPLES, IRAN WARS, AND CONVENIENT SILENCE
Sen. James Lankford spent 22 years in Baptist youth ministry, including 15 years directing Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center the largest Christian youth camp in America. He holds a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and co-chairs the Congressional Prayer Caucus. His campaign website declares he is committed to “God, Family and the Constitution.”
He has said publicly: “The cable news principles are not the Jesus principles. These are the Jesus principles.” He has said: “Anger’s not gonna drive us towards what’s better. Scripture’s very clear about that.” He describes himself as “more a pastor than a politician” and has stated: “Every person is created in God’s image and has value and worth regardless of their political party.”
In March 2026, Lankford told reporters he is “completely comfortable” with Trump’s war in Iran. No public comment on the Easter post has been found.
The most revealing episode of Lankford’s political character came in early 2024, when he negotiated what he called “the most conservative border security bill in four decades.” Trump killed it. Lankford revealed on the Senate floor that a conservative commentator warned him: “If you try to move a bill that solves the border crisis during this presidential year, I will do whatever I can to destroy you.” When Democrats revived the same bill months later, Lankford voted against his own legislation — calling it “a prop.”
He is “completely comfortable” with a war prosecuted through f-bomb Truth Social ultimatums. His Jesus principles apparently have a carve-out for Easter Sunday.
DHS SECRETARY MARKWAYNE MULLIN: FAITH, FISTS, AND THE COMPANY HE KEEPS
Markwayne Mullin is a Pentecostal Assembly of God member who now runs the nation’s immigration enforcement apparatus as Secretary of Homeland Security. His campaign site states: “Their abiding faith in Christ is at the center of their family.” He has said: “I get up every morning and I pray that the Lord would give me the wisdom to know the good from the bad.”
He endorsed Trump in February 2023, calling him “the strongest president of my lifetime” and “a proven champion for our conservative values.” Trump nominated him as DHS Secretary in March 2026. He was confirmed March 23, 2026.
At his Senate confirmation hearing, Sen. Rand Paul challenged him directly: “Tell me to my face why you think I deserved it… explain to the American public why they should trust a man with anger issues.” Mullin had nearly physically fought the Teamsters president during a 2023 Senate hearing and reportedly called Paul “a freaking snake.” An academic review on Faith on View concluded that Mullin’s campaign Christianity is “no longer recognizable as Christianity” when “juxtaposed with the example of Jesus in Scripture.”
While Mullin was sheltering inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 photographed crouching in a hallway as the breach unfolded his Oklahoma political allies were holding their own Stop the Steal rally outside the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City. State Rep. Kevin McDugle, a Republican from the Broken Arrow area and a documented political ally, confirmed in writing to The Oklahoma Post that he spoke at Stop the Steal rallies at the Oklahoma state Capitol. “When I spoke about stop the steal it was at the state Capitol not in DC,” McDugle wrote — an acknowledgment, not a denial. McDugle was also among 37 Oklahoma state lawmakers who signed a letter asking Congress to overturn the 2020 presidential election results before January 6.
Mullin helped build the political environment that sent people to Washington that day. He did not go himself. He hid. Then he collected the rewards an endorsement, a Cabinet nomination, a confirmation.
As DHS Secretary, Mullin has repeatedly targeted other states as examples of Democratic failure. When Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked him about sanctuary cities, Baier specifically cited Minnesota as the problem. “We saw it in Minnesota,” Baier said. “How do you get around that?” Mullin responded by threatening to cut off cooperation with jurisdictions that don’t partner with federal immigration enforcement, declaring his goal is “to keep your state as safe as my state.”
Minnesota, in other words, is the cautionary tale. The mess. The place Oklahoma values are meant to fix. Meanwhile public school principals are being shot by pharmaceutical-induced psychotic children in Oklahoma and there are open complaints against school districts for harming American children.
Minnesota is also where Mullin took his family when they needed the best medical care in the country.
In April 2025, Mullin traveled to be at the Mayo Clinic the same state he holds up as an example of Democratic dysfunction while his son Andrew underwent testing for a mystery illness involving fluid in his lungs and growth spots that were “progressively getting worse.” Mullin posted daily updates from Minnesota on social media. His spokesperson told Fox News: “Senator Mullin is at the Mayo Clinic this week supporting his son, Andrew, as he undergoes rigorous testing. The senator’s priorities are clear: God, Family, and everybody else.” Located in Rochester, Minnesota a state Mullin has called out by name as a sanctuary problem and an example of the wrong way to govern is ranked the No. 1 hospital in the nation. It is staffed by thousands of workers, many of them immigrants. It exists because Minnesota built and sustained a healthcare infrastructure that Oklahoma has not. Mullin did not take his son to Tulsa. He did not take him to Oklahoma City. He first went to California, then he drove to the state he has spent his career using as a political punching bag and handed his son’s life to Minnesota’s doctors.
The Mayo Clinic ruled out cancer. Mullin thanked the public for their prayers.
He did not thank Minnesotans or immigrants.
He has also said nothing about the fact that the ICE enforcement machine he now commands the one deporting mothers of American children, separating families and removing a 4-year-old with stage-four cancer from the country operates in the same state whose medical institutions he trusted with his own child’s care. Minnesota has resisted his enforcement priorities. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey told ICE agents to get out of the city after the administration’s agents shot and killed a U.S. citizen. Mullin’s response has been to threaten the state’s federal funding and demand cooperation.
Oklahoma values, apparently, include knowing exactly which states have the best hospitals and using them while publicly campaigning on how terrible those states are. California and Minnesota come to mind.
He prays daily for wisdom to know good from bad. On Easter Sunday 2026, he had nothing to say.
GOV. KEVIN STITT: EVERY SQUARE INCH FOR JESUS, NONE FOR ACCOUNTABILITY
Gov. Kevin Stitt, son of a pastor, attends Woodlake Assembly of God. After his 2022 reelection, he prayed publicly on the Capitol steps: “Father, we just claim Oklahoma for you. Every square inch, we claim it for you in the name of Jesus… as the authority that I have as governor, and the spiritual authority and the physical authority that you give me. I claim Oklahoma for you.”
In March 2025, he signed an executive order instructing state agencies to “purge barriers separating church and state.” He proclaimed April 2026 as “Faith Month” in Oklahoma. He applauded Trump’s Iran strikes in late February 2026.
Nothing about Easter Sunday. Every square inch for Jesus except accountability.
ATTORNEY GENERAL GENTNER DRUMMOND: TRUMP’S SOLDIER, A FEDERAL DEFENDANT, AND A COURT THAT LOOKED AWAY
Timothy McVeigh was a soldier too.
Attorney General Gentner Drummond, now running for governor and widely considered the frontrunner, has built his 2026 campaign on a platform of explicit Trump alignment. At his announcement in Pawhuska he declared: “As governor, I will keep standing strong with President Trump to secure our borders, deport illegals and stop the flow of drugs and crime.” Since taking office, Drummond has led multi-state coalitions supporting Trump’s federal school funding cuts, filed legal motions supporting Trump’s rollback of EPA climate regulations, and pledged Oklahoma’s cooperation with Trump’s voter data collection demands. He has filed more than 25 legal actions supporting Trump administration positions on energy and environment alone.
Drummond’s campaign declares he has “spent his life fighting for freedom, upholding justice, and defending the values that make Oklahoma great.” He calls himself a champion of transparency and the rule of law.
His campaign has offered no public statement on the president’s Easter Sunday profanity post. No statement on the Jesus comparison. No statement on the threats to bomb civilian infrastructure. Drummond a decorated Gulf War fighter pilot who knows precisely what targeting civilian power plants and bridges means under the laws of war has been silent.
OKLAHOMA’S SHERIFFS: LAW, ORDER, AND SILENCE
Oklahoma’s sheriffs are deeply enmeshed in the Trump political ecosystem. Twenty county sheriffs recently banded together to endorse gubernatorial candidate Charles McCall, explicitly citing alignment with Trump’s immigration and law enforcement agenda. Among them: Payne County Sheriff Joe Harper, Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux, Grady County Sheriff Gary Boggess, Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley and Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton, among fifteen others across the state.
Canadian County Sheriff Chris West and Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson appeared alongside AG candidate Jon Echols at a Christian Heritage Academy in Del City, backing his campaign to work “hand in glove” with Trump’s federal immigration enforcement. Oklahoma law enforcement agencies have received millions of dollars in payments from ICE partnership agreements, with multiple counties operating under 287(g) deportation agreements. Oklahoma ranks among the top states in the nation for law enforcement turning people over to ICE.
These are the same sheriffs who invoke law, order, and community values at every campaign stop. Not one has publicly addressed their president’s Easter Sunday post threatening to bomb power plants and bridges with an f-bomb signed off with a mocking “Praise be to Allah.”
REP. KEVIN HERN AND OKLAHOMA’S HOUSE DELEGATION
Rep. Kevin Hern, now running for U.S. Senate with Trump’s formal endorsement, campaigns on the slogan “Trump Endorsed. America First. Oklahoma Proud.” All five of Oklahoma’s House members voted against certifying the 2020 election. Former State Superintendent Ryan Walters ordered Oklahoma schoolchildren to watch him pray for Trump on video and mandated Bibles in classrooms — with specifications that suspiciously matched only the Trump-endorsed “God Bless the USA” Bible, resulting in a federal lawsuit.
For broader context: Ralph Shortey, a self-described “family values” state senator who served as Trump’s Oklahoma campaign chair, pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking of a 17-year-old boy. The family values brand has a track record in this state.
THE SILENCE IS THE STORY
The contrast deserves to be stated plainly.
These are officials who invoke Jesus from podiums, claim states for Christ in public prayer, mandate scripture in public school classrooms, collect millions in federal immigration enforcement payments, and ask voters to trust them precisely because of their Christian values and moral character. When their president used the holiest morning of the Christian year to post profane war threats — and close with a mockery of Islamic faith they went silent.
Lankford says “anger’s not gonna drive us toward what’s better” and preaches “Jesus principles” over “cable news principles,” yet he is “completely comfortable” with a war prosecuted through f-bomb Truth Social ultimatums. Drummond declares he champions transparency and the rule of law — the same laws of war his silence endorses violating and says nothing. Stitt claims every square inch of Oklahoma for Jesus while the man he stands with skips Easter church to threaten civilian bombing campaigns. Oklahoma’s sheriffs wrap themselves in faith and the flag while collecting ICE payments and ignoring their president’s Easter morning rant.
Baptist News Global’s Martin Thielen wrote that evangelical leaders’ “gross hypocrisy about Donald Trump has turned millions of people away from Christ and the church, especially young people.”
James Dobson of Focus on the Family said it best about a different president, in a different era: “Character does matter. You can’t run a family, let alone a country, without it.”
That standard no longer applies when the man in the Oval Office is on your team.
On Easter Sunday 2026, Oklahoma’s entire Christian political class senators, a cabinet secretary, a governor, an attorney general running for governor while facing unanswered federal RICO allegations, and sheriffs from one end of the state to the other offered not a word of rebuke.
Their silence is its own sermon.
