Stillwater, Ok November 17 (The Oklahoma Post)-

Candidates can file for Stillwater School Board of Education position No. 3 at the Payne County Board of Election from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 5th, 6th, and 7th. School Board members serve a 5-year term.

For more information on filing to run for a local school board, visit oklahoma.gov/elections or call 405-747-8350 for the Payne County Election Board.

The election will be held on February 14th, 2023, coinciding with the extremely expensive school bond issue and the next municipal election for City Councilor seats No. 1 and No. 2.

The seat is currently held by Roberta Douglas, Assistant Director of the Employer Engagement team with OSU Career Services, Douglas told another publication that she plans to file for re-election to the spot she was appointed. Very few of the city councilors or board members have actually been elected, as most have been appointed to their roles.

Any resident within city limits may vote on this election, not just residents within Ward 3.

A Board of Education General Election will be held April 4, 2023, if only two candidates file for a position on the ballot or for a position on the ballot for an unexpired term, or if no candidate in the Primary Election receives more than 50 percent of the votes cast.

In addition, the following Payne County school districts have submitted resolutions for filing candidates:

  • Coyle Public Schools, Logan Co., Office #3
  • Cushing Public Schools, Payne Co., Office #3 (5-year term) and Office #1 (4-year term, unexpired)
