In a recent Twitter post, Stephen Schoch also known as @bigdonkey47 bravely made the public aware of a major bed bug and cleanliness issue at Stillwater Oklahoma’s Wyndham Garden Hotel. Teams are in town this weekend for the upcoming NCAA Baseball World Series tourney regional qualifiers.
Hotel guests, reportedly some of the players who are in town for the NCAA Baseball Tournament, uncovered a massive nest of bed bugs during the stay and Mr. Schoch made his voice heard for the players on the matter. It’s a breaking story, we’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
Bed bugs are tiny insects that feed on blood when you sleep. Their bites can result in a number of major health impacts. Symptoms may take between minutes to days to appear, scientists say. They multiply and hide anywhere thinkable.
Not a great representation of the small town and guests need to take proper precautions to not spread them to their homes.
While the rural town has few options for guests to choose from, basic sanitation is expected. We are sure Mayor Joyce doesn’t want the town drowning in police corruption and nasty hotels. Likewise, Oklahoma State University (OSU) doesn’t have any control over where the NCAA chooses to put baseball teams. The NCAA is cheap, as is the City of Stillwater if you haven’t figured that out years ago.
According to the 2021-22 NCAA Division I Baseball Host Operations Manual, the tournament manager is responsible for making housing arrangements for each team and all hotels should be of equal quality.
“The @MSUBearBaseball team’s hotel is gross. How can we expect players to perform their best when they can’t get a good nights sleep. They got bed bugs, blood on the bed, hair on their pillows and 3xl panties behind the door. This is literally nightmare fuel from the NCAA”

When family and other travelers to Stillwater, Oklahoma Wyndham “Resorts” began to validate the claims of gross and unsanitary conditions at the historic hotel, Wyndham did offer a bright “Cheers” to the weary guests.
Mayor Will Joyce is a regular attendee at the baseball games, so I’m sure the host has received an earful already about the conditions. Good luck with the NCAA.
According to The Crafted Travel Co the most significant danger with bed bugs is the likelihood of taking them home with you and forever being a blood feast for the tick-like creatures.
Bed bugs are capable of clinging to your luggage or clothes and hitching a ride back to your home. Female bed bugs can also lay numerous eggs at once. Eggs are roughly the size of a speck of dust, so you have no hope of spotting them in your bag.
The first thing you’ll need to do when you get home is to leave your luggage outside. In fact, just throw it away. Your luggage is one of the most likely places that bed bugs will hide, so keep it out of your home until you know that you’re in the clear. Next, you must place all your laundry in a plastic bag to transfer your laundry into a washing machine. Wash your clothes on a high heat that exceeds 100°F. Once the laundry has been washed, transfer the clean clothes into a new plastic bag and keep it away from any potentially contaminated items.
Continue to do this until all your laundry has been cleaned at a high temperature. Once the items from your suitcase are cleaned and bug-free, it’s time to rid your luggage of any potential bed bugs. The best way to clean your luggage of bed bugs is by using a steam cleaner or other high-temperature methods such as boiling water.
Again, it’s really better to just throw anything away that you had with you in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Night night, don’t let the bedbugs bite!
