The Oklahoma Post LLC
Effective Sept. 9, 2026
Updated Oct. 7, 2026

Two things: the terms of a membership, and the terms under which we sell advertising. If you are only reading the site or the free newsletter, none of this applies to you. See our Terms and Conditions instead.

Before you are charged

  • You are charged the amount shown at checkout, on the schedule shown at checkout.
  • A membership is one payment. It does not renew and you are not charged again.
  • Your payment and its receipt are on your payments page.
  • Part One. Membership

    Sections 1 through 10

    1What a membership is

A one-time payment to The Oklahoma Post LLC, referred to here as Publisher. It supports the reporting and it unlocks the access described in section 2. It is not a charitable donation.

2What is free and what a membership unlocks

Every story on theokpost.com is free to read for 14 days after it publishes, with no meter and no account required. The newsletter is free. Corrections, anything bearing on public safety, and live broadcasts and their replays are free permanently.

A membership unlocks five things: articles tagged Featured, which are available to members from the moment they publish; all articles once they are 14 days old and move into the archive; the source documents published alongside stories; search across the full archive; and posting to the event calendar.

Calendar submissions are edited to Publisher’s standards, and Publisher decides whether and when to publish. A membership creates no obligation to publish any submission.

Members get no different journalism. Gated articles are the same reporting held to the same standards, not written for or about members.

    3Not tax-deductible

Publisher is a for-profit limited liability company, not a 501(c)(3). Membership payments are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. We issue no charitable receipts and make no representation about tax treatment.

    4Billing

Memberships are billed one time. There is no automatic renewal and no recurring charge. The amount is disclosed at checkout before any billing information is collected, and you authorize Publisher and its payment processor to charge that amount once.

    5Closing your account

A membership is paid once, so there are no future charges to stop. To close your account, ask through the contact form and we will close it, with no fee and no explanation.

    6Refunds

Generally non-refundable. That said: if you were charged in error, charged twice, or signed up by mistake and told us within 30 days, ask through the contact form and we will refund it. We would rather return your money than argue about it.

    7Price changes

A price change applies to new memberships only. A membership already paid for is not charged again.

    8Payment processing and receipts

Payments are handled by Stripe or PayPal, third-party payment processors, under their own terms and privacy policies. Publisher does not store full payment card numbers.

Signed-in customers can see every payment, and open a receipt for each one, on the payments page.

    9Failed payments

If a payment fails, the membership does not start. We will email you and you can try again. No hard feelings.

    10Membership buys no editorial influence

No coverage, no favorable treatment, no advance review, no ability to prevent or remove a story. Feedback offered at any level is feedback, not an assignment.

    Part Two. Advertising

    Sections 11 through 25

    11Agreement

These terms govern all advertising purchased from Publisher. An Order is either an order placed and paid through the online form at theokpost.com/advertise or a signed Insertion Order. The Order plus these terms is the entire agreement and supersedes any prior discussion, proposal or published rate card.

    12What Advertiser is buying

The placements listed on the Order. Not editorial coverage, editorial influence, or any guarantee of audience size, impressions, clicks, attendance or business results. Publisher makes no performance representation.

    13Editorial independence

All editorial decisions are Publisher’s alone. Advertiser does not review, approve, edit or receive advance notice of editorial content, and may not require its removal or alteration. Purchasing advertising does not entitle Advertiser to coverage. Publisher’s Editorial Standards apply to all content and are incorporated by reference.

If Publisher reports on Advertiser, the advertising relationship is disclosed in the story. The advertising continues to run and so does the story.

    14Sponsored content

Labeled Sponsored prominently at the top, before the headline, in Publisher’s standard format. Advertiser may review for factual accuracy about its own business before publication. Publisher retains final editorial control over headline, tone and whether to publish at all, and will not publish sponsored content it believes is misleading or cannot label clearly.

    15Creative materials

Advertiser supplies creative meeting Publisher’s specifications by the due date on the Order. Publisher-produced creative remains Publisher’s property unless separately agreed in writing. Late creative does not extend the campaign or reduce amounts owed.

    16Advertiser warranties

Advertiser owns or has rights to all content, marks, images and music supplied; all claims are truthful, substantiated and legally compliant; it holds any licenses required for the business advertised; and its advertising infringes no third-party right and defames no person.

    17Indemnification

Advertiser will indemnify, defend and hold harmless Publisher, its owners, employees and contractors against any claim, loss, damage, cost or expense, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from Advertiser’s advertising, products, services or breach of this agreement.

    18Right to reject

Publisher may reject, cancel, remove or decline to publish any advertising at any time and for any reason, including an order already paid online. Where rejection or removal is for reasons other than Advertiser’s breach, Advertiser’s sole remedy is a pro-rated refund for placements not run.

    19Categories not accepted

Advertising built to look like a news story; payday and title lending; firearms, ammunition and other weapons; tobacco and vaping products; adult content and services; counterfeit goods and any product or service that is illegal to sell in Oklahoma; claims Publisher cannot verify, including miracle cures, guaranteed returns and get-rich-quick offers; and anything Publisher determines to be deceptive. Publisher may add categories at any time.

    20Makegoods

If a placement fails to run through Publisher’s error or a technical failure, Publisher will run it at a comparable time or credit the account, at Publisher’s option. Makegoods are Publisher’s sole liability for missed or defective placements.

    21Live broadcasts

Live coverage depends on weather, connectivity, access, and the meeting or event actually taking place. If a broadcast does not occur or is materially interrupted for reasons outside Publisher’s control, Publisher will apply the fee to a substitute broadcast within 12 months or issue a credit. Publisher retains all rights in the broadcast, the recording and any derivative content, including the right to keep the recording published indefinitely.

    22Monthly packages

Packages purchased on a monthly basis run month to month with no minimum term. Either party may stop at the end of any paid month. A package billed by online subscription can be stopped from the payments page. Amounts already paid for the current month are non-refundable and placements already produced, scheduled or run are payable in full. There is no early termination charge and no re-pricing of delivered placements.

    23Annual and term commitments

Where an Order states an annual or multi-month term at a discounted rate, that term is a commitment. It renews automatically for successive terms at then-current rates unless either party gives 30 days’ written notice before the term ends, and Publisher gives 45 days’ notice of any rate change. Early cancellation of a term commitment re-prices delivered placements at standard monthly rates, and any difference is immediately due.

    24Exclusivity

Section sponsorships are exclusive to Advertiser’s category for the stated term. All other placements are non-exclusive.

    25Payment

Online orders are paid at checkout. All other amounts are due per the Order. Balances more than 15 days past due accrue interest at 1.5% per month or the legal maximum, whichever is less. Publisher may suspend placements on a past-due account. Advertiser pays reasonable collection costs including attorneys’ fees.

    Part Three. Both

    Sections 26 through 32

    26Limitation of liability

Publisher’s total liability will not exceed the amount paid for the membership period or placement at issue. No liability for indirect, incidental, consequential or lost-profit damages.

    27Independent contractors

No partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship is created.

    28Assignment

Neither party may assign without the other’s written consent, except that Publisher may assign in connection with a sale of the business.

    29Governing law and venue

Minnesota law. Venue in Cass County, Minnesota. Both parties will attempt good-faith resolution before filing suit.

    30Changes

Publisher may update this page. Material changes take effect 30 days after notice by email or on-site posting. Continued membership or advertising after that constitutes acceptance.

    31Entire agreement and severability

This page plus any Order is the entire agreement. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

    32Questions
