The Oklahoma Post LLC
Effective Sept. 9, 2026
Updated Oct. 7, 2026

Plain version: read what you like, send us what you like, don’t take our reporting and republish it as your own, and don’t mistake a story about a court case for legal advice about your court case.

Who this covers

These terms apply to everyone who uses theokpost.com or subscribes to the newsletter. Using the site means you accept them. Membership and advertising have their own additional terms in the Subscription and Advertising Sales Agreement.

Where the Sales Agreement covers a subject this page also touches, the Sales Agreement controls on that subject and the rest of this page stands. Where the Privacy Policy covers what we do with your information, the Privacy Policy controls.

Age

You need to be 13 to send us something or create an account, and 18 to buy a membership or place an ad.

What is free and what is not

Every story is free to read for 14 days after it publishes. No account, no article limit, and we will not interrupt a piece you have already started.

Three things require a membership: articles tagged Featured, which are open to members from the day they publish; articles once they are 14 days old and move into the member archive; and posting to the event calendar.

Four things never require one, at any point: corrections, anything bearing on public safety, live broadcasts and their replays, and the newsletter.

We may change what we publish, how it is organized, which parts require a membership, or whether a feature exists at all, at any time.

Newsletter

The newsletter is free and goes out weekly. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe that works immediately, with no login, no survey and no explanation required. We do not sell, rent or share subscriber addresses. Details in the Privacy Policy.

What you send us

By submitting text, photographs, video, audio or documents, you assign to The Oklahoma Post LLC all rights in that material, worldwide and in perpetuity, in every medium now existing or later invented. We may publish, edit, reproduce, distribute, archive, syndicate, license and promote it without further permission and without additional payment.

You confirm that what you send is yours to send, that it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark or privacy, and that nothing in it is knowingly false.

If you send us something you did not have the right to send and someone comes after us over it, you cover what it costs us to deal with that, including attorney fees.

Tell us if you do not want your name used and we will honor that or decline to publish. Say it before you tell us the thing, not after. Anything sent without that condition attached may be published.

We are under no obligation to publish, return or keep confidential anything sent unsolicited.

Once your material is part of a published story, removal is an editorial decision under our Editorial Standards, not a right you retain.

Our content

All original reporting, photographs, graphics, logos and design are the property of The Oklahoma Post LLC under United States copyright law.

Allowed

Linking to our stories, including members-only ones. Quoting briefly with credit.

Ask first

Republishing a full story or using our photographs. Ask through the contact form and choose the publisher desk. Members-only articles are a separate decision, because republishing one outside the wall gives away what members paid for.

Not allowed

Scraping, crawling, bulk reproduction, automated collection of any kind, circumventing a membership wall or sharing credentials to get past one, or using our content to train machine learning models without a written agreement.

Behave reasonably

Do not attempt to breach, overload or interfere with the site. Do not impersonate us or our staff. Do not submit anything unlawful, defamatory or harassing. Do not work around a block we have put in place.

Suspending access

We can suspend or close an account, with or without notice, for sharing credentials, reversing a payment, getting around a membership requirement, or anything else in the section above.

Suspension is not cancellation. If we close a paid membership for one of these reasons, the Sales Agreement covers what happens to the money.

Links out

We link to court dockets, agency records, other newsrooms and businesses we have written about. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Accuracy, and what we are not

We work from documents, we say where a gap remains, and we correct our mistakes visibly. The site is still provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.

Not legal advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice, and reading it does not make anyone your lawyer. We report on cases. We do not advise on them.

If a deadline, a filing or a hearing matters to you, talk to an attorney. Do not decide what to do in your own case based on what we wrote about somebody else’s.

A charge is not a conviction and a filing is not a finding. We report what a document says and what a proceeding did. An allegation in a petition is an allegation. Court records also change after we publish, through amendment, dismissal, expungement or appeal. Check the current record on OSCN or with the clerk before relying on anything here.

Meeting times, agendas and event details change. Confirm with the body or the organizer before you drive.

This site is not a complete record of what happens in Oklahoma and should not be treated as one. In an emergency, call 911.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Oklahoma Post LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability will not exceed $100 or the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

Corrections

Send corrections through the contact form and choose the corrections desk. Include the headline, the publication date and the specific passage. Every request gets a real answer.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page. Material changes take effect 30 days after posting. The effective date at the top reflects the current version.

Using the site after that date means you accept the new version. If you would rather not, stop using the site and cancel any membership before the date arrives.

Governing law

Minnesota law. Venue in Cass County, Minnesota.

After you stop using the site

Cancel a membership or close the tab and most of this page stops applying to you. These parts keep running: anything you owe us, the rights you assigned in what you sent, our ownership of our own work, the limitation of liability, and governing law.

Most questions go through the contact form.
