Navy veteran and attorney Jackson Stallings formally announced his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives in Oklahoma’s First Congressional District, entering the race for the seat being vacated by Rep. Kevin Hern, who is leaving Congress to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Markwayne Mullin.
Stallings, a Moore, Oklahoma native who graduated from Southmoore High School before attending Yale, served as a Judge Advocate General officer in the Navy before entering the private sector. JAG officers are the military’s legal corps, serving as prosecutors, defense counsel and legal advisors within the armed forces. Stallings served as a defense attorney, legal assistance attorney and Staff Judge Advocate for both an Admiral and an Installation Commanding Officer. It is a distinction rarely seen among congressional candidates. He is running as a Republican on a platform centered on border security, lowering costs for working families and supporting President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.
“Service to America isn’t just a belief, it’s a family tradition,” Stallings said in a prepared statement. “From a young age I learned that our freedoms are not guaranteed and defending them is one of life’s highest callings, which is why I’m proud to stand with President Trump and the America First movement.”
Stallings said he grew up the son of a high school football coach and played college football at Yale before earning a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He currently works with small businesses, helping entrepreneurs navigate access to capital and resources.
The campaign launched with endorsements from U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas and Steve Largent, the Pro Football Hall of Famer who held the same congressional seat from 1994 to 2002.
“Success in football and in public service comes down to discipline and doing things the right way,” said Largent. “As a Navy veteran and fiscal conservative, Jackson Stallings has the toughness and principles we need in Washington.”
Gill, who represents Texas’s 26th Congressional District, called Stallings “a proven patriot, Navy veteran, strong Christian, and fighter who will back President Trump’s America First agenda in Oklahoma.”
Stallings and his wife, Jeni, have two children. The candidate filing period for the 2026 elections opens April 1.
