The questions we actually get, answered without the corporate throat-clearing.
Reading The Oklahoma Post
Is it free?
Every story is free for 14 days after it publishes. After that it moves into the archive, which requires membership. The weekly newsletter is free permanently. Corrections and anything with a public safety element never go behind the wall.
What does membership cost?
Ten dollars a year. There is no second tier, no founder’s circle and no upsell.
Is my membership tax deductible?
No. The Oklahoma Post LLC is a limited liability company, not a nonprofit. It is a subscription, the same as any other.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Terms are in the Subscription and Advertising Sales Agreement.
Sending Us Something
I have a story. How do I send it?
Use the contact form and choose the newsroom. Tell us what happened, when, and what documents you have. Orders, transcripts, correspondence, denials. Specifics move faster than outrage.
Will you use my name?
Not without your agreement. That is an editorial commitment and we hold to it.
Is the form secure?
No, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It travels over the internet and lands on a server. If disclosure would put your job, your safety or your case at risk, say so in your first message and send nothing further until we have answered.
Will you take my case?
Probably not, and that is not a judgment about your case. This is a small operation and we take a small number of stories so we can stay on them. If we cannot take yours we will say so rather than leaving you waiting.
Corrections and Complaints
You got something wrong.
Send the headline, the publication date and the specific passage through the contact form and choose the corrections desk. Documentation moves it faster than argument. If we got it wrong we fix it on the story, dated, with the error described rather than quietly overwritten.
I want a story taken down.
We do not unpublish accurate reporting. An archive that can be edited on request is not an archive. If there is a factual error, that is a correction and we want to hear about it. If the objection is that the reporting is unwelcome, that is not a correction.
My name appears in a story and I want it removed.
A privacy request covers personal information we hold about you as a visitor to this website. It does not reach our published journalism. The Privacy Policy spells out the difference.
The Operation
How big is the staff?
Small. Deliberately. We take fewer stories and stay on them longer, which is the only real advantage a small newsroom has over a wire desk.
Who owns it?
The Oklahoma Post LLC. Independently owned. No party, campaign, candidate, agency or advocacy organization holds an interest.
Do advertisers get a say in coverage?
No. They do not see stories in advance and they do not get notice that one is coming. This comes up more than you would think.
Why do some stories run under a pen name?
Because reporting on courts, police conduct and state agencies draws retaliation, and the byline is not the part that matters. Our standards apply identically to every story on this site regardless of the name on it.
