Tell us what is happening.

Commission meetings, council votes, school board sessions and candidate forums. Also rodeos, festivals, concerts, fish fries, benefit dinners and grand openings. If people are welcome, we want it.

Posting is a member benefit. The form is right down there.

Before You Send It

  • Member access required, $10 a year. Posting to the calendar is unlocked with an active annual membership. It supports the reporting and it keeps spammers off the board. If you are not a member yet, join here for $10 a year.
  • A week ahead, minimum. Two is better. The newsletter goes out weekly. Anything sent the night before usually misses it, and if you want a camera there, drive time has to get planned.
  • We need six things: what it is, when, where, how much, who is welcome, and somebody we can call. Miss one and we write back asking, which costs both of us a day.
  • Public meetings get priority. If a body is voting on something that matters, say so plainly. Those are the listings we act on fastest.

The six things

01What it is
02WhenDate, start and end time
03WhereVenue and address, and the county
04How muchFree, at the door, in advance
05Who is welcome
06Somebody we can callName, email, phone. We will not publish it.

Optional, and all of it helps: who is putting it on, a public contact we can print, a website or Facebook event link, a photo or flyer at full size, and anything odd we should know. Rain date, parking, accessibility, whether the doors close at seven.

For a public meeting, send the agenda packet if there is one. That is the part that tells us whether to drive.

Send it in

Fill in what you have. Choose Submit An Event from the list. If something is missing, send it anyway and we will call.

What happens next

We read every one. Most go up within a day or two.

Event submissions are included with your membership and we run nearly everything. We edit for length and clarity. We do not list anything that is not actually open to the public, and campaign events are listed as campaign events.

If something changes — cancelled, moved, sold out, postponed for weather — tell us through the contact form and we will update it the same day. We would rather fix a listing than have somebody drive an hour across two counties for nothing.

Where it ends up

  • The site: as soon as we post it.
  • The newsletter: weekly, with everything coming up. Free to subscribe.
  • Facebook: the bigger ones, and anything happening in the next 48 hours.
  • Watch Live: if it is a public meeting worth streaming, it may end up in front of a camera.

Want more than a listing?

A calendar line reaches people already looking. If you want a write-up, photographs or a live broadcast from your event, that is sponsored coverage. Labeled as sponsored, priced on the rate card, and worth it for a fundraiser or an opening you have put real money into.

And if you would rather we just came? Tell us anyway. We cannot get everywhere, but we cannot get anywhere we do not know about.

Do not overthink it. If you are not sure it is worth listing, list it. A county commission meeting on a Tuesday morning is exactly the kind of thing we exist for.
